Historicide: Somjyoti Mridha

Somjyoti Mridha teaches at the Department of English, North-Eastern Hill University(NEHU), Shillong, Meghalaya, India. He is a confirmed bibliophile, loves red wine and travelling.

Good fences make good neighbors, wrote Robert Frost

He forgot fences inside the home.

Frost lived in expansive America, didn’t know about space crunch

They never fight for that sort of thing there.

In the Indo-Gangetic plains we huddle together and jostle for space

Land is scarce, so is wisdom.

We order history and erect fallacy

Mosques over temples over stupas

Reorder it again

Temples over mosques over stupas

In this age of instant everything

We cook history, instantly

Add a bit of pepper and prejudice

Everything gets done, instantly

With lots of hing and a bit of hatred.
