TO AUTUMN: LORRAINE ROBINSON

The walnut tree releases
Herself to end of a season
Crying tears of falling leaves
In cadmium yellow profusion

She weeps in joy to expose
A bounty of nutty fruits
Come see, come gather
Gorged full the birds do fly

A flurry swirls in breezy
Twists and shakes her
Yellow gown- down, down
Around her slender ankles

A body of delicate stance
Arms of sturdy branches raise
In praise and stark naked
Against a sapphire sky
Wordless she says
Here am I
