The congregation gathers weekly,

looking for the miracle, looking

for the unity that words bring.

Some come to request, others to

receive, all are here to sift the

words for hope, and news of

“His” arrival.

As the hour nears, the air feels

electric, crackles redemption,

and all eyes turn skyward.

The impetus of promise is

contagious, luminous, the genius

of its alchemy mysterious and

legend. The wait is finally over—

Jesus arrives in a limousine:

double digit peace signs waving

Wal-Mart gift cards throwing,

Chuck E Cheese decals on white leather.
